Since starting to learn Logotherapy, I have become to think over “question from life” when facing various happenings such as seeing trash on a road, getting injured unexpectedly or encountering harsh criticism. One of reasons why I like Logotherapy is it requires us to live Logotherapy. Otherwise we cannot speak of Logotherapy to others. Men choose words, and words choose men as well: the importance of words depends on the man who utters the words. I will behave in a suitable way for the words I speak of Logotherapy.

I have been engaged in palliative care of cancer patients as ananesthesiologist. While physical pains can be relieved by medicine, how to treat spiritual pains had been my perpetual bother. Frankl's dimensional ontology I learned in Logotherapy Seminar gave me a powerful clue. Human being is a comprehensive being that has not only physical and psychological dimensions but also spiritual dimension. I found it is important to control mentality using spiritual and physical dimensions; and to make self-transcendence and self-distancing second nature. I have special emotions that I was certified Logotherapist in 2011 when the Tohoku Area was attacked by a great earthquake. I had been questioning repeatedly from my young age about life and death: "What is life?" and "Does death come true?" Instead of answering to my questions, Logotherapy indicates me locus of responsibility saying "Live a better life."
Although my casual daily life was destroyed and lost, I will fulfill my responsibilities with paying full attention to person and matter at hand as well as greatly esteeming singularity and uniqueness of encounter.

My job is to relate with children in education and welfare.
I will support children who tend to give up hope for their life and help to have purpose and hope for their life.

The tenets of Logotherapy drastically changed my rigid value sense which I had been holding. In other words, I came to have flexibility to shed light on things from various angles.
I will not forget to polish my antenna of conscience and eye glasses to see things, so that I can be responsive to question from my life. For that purpose, I wish I could use what I leaned for casting light on others, which may be small now but will be large in future.

We sometimes feel beset from all sides, or cannot stand up with feeling of loneliness and sense of hopelessness. When we shed light from different angles, different figure or landscape emerges before us. We can be free from obsessing thought or pig-headed attitude by using Logotherapy technique.
I will stand by distress persons till they notice they can light lamp by themselves instead of lament over darkness. I wish to become a Logotherapist who firmly believe that man can find hope, even though it’s faint, under any circumstances when dialoguing with clients.
